Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle non-invasive technique which allows for the location and release of deeply held stress and trauma. I have observed it to be highly effective in alleviating stress, chronic pain, emotional traumas, headaches, tinitius, fatigue, depression etc. and especially in conjunction with other therapy such as Nutrition and Yoga. It can also be highly effective in conjunction with massage to bring a more relaxing, deeper and more lasting effect.
Body time is the slowest time, slower than any other time. Here we come into the body and to the very depths, and we find a wave: The Inner Tide.
There is fluid, known as Cerebrospinal Fluid, surrounding the brain and spinal cord; the Central Nervous System. Holding this fluid is a membrane, known as the Dural Membrane. This membrane filters the blood to allow only the purest elements of nourishment into our nervous system, and allows the system to cleanse itself by draining any unwanted elements through its pores back into the bloodstream to be eliminated from the body through the kidneys. As new fluid enters the nervous system from the blood, the dural membrane fills, slightly expanding and thus causing a slight outward shift in each vertebrae and bone in the cranium. As the fluid drains, cleansing, the dural membrane drains, slightly contracting and thus causing a slight inward shift in each bone and vertebrae. This causes a gentle and subtle wave of motion to move through the entire body and is what is known as the Inner Tide.
When we incur physical or emotional trauma or stress in our being, it can get embedded in the dural membrane, which is basically the deepest part of our physical body. This causes limitation in the expression of our physical movement and other aspects of our being as well. The awareness of the Practitioner (of CST) can travel along the craniosacral wave to locate and support the release of this trauma/stress. The release is often accompanied by memories of the original trauma in which case the Practitioner holds a space of loving kindness, compassion and gentle guidance to stay present with any emotions, sensations etc which may arise. Such deep healing comes not without challenges, and also not without results. I have witnessed many people take enormous steps toward freedom with this type of support.
